Stormsriver Adventures

Abseiling.

Hit off your Garden Route adventure with a blast. The 35 metre abseil is ideal for all adventure seekers, irrespective of experience. The thrill ride starts with you trekking down via a rope ladder to our rig and rappelling your way down 35m of solid face. A bird's eye view of the gorge in all it's glory beckons to you while the Paul Sauer Bridge looms above the abseiler.

No wait....the adventure continues as you descend into a kloof where a chain ladder makes for your ascent from the gorge where professionals are always on hand assisting..

Known side effects - post abseil grin lasting at least seven days!!

Black Water Tubing

Starting with a steep descent down a "rope ladder" into the almost inaccessible canyon and ending at the suspension bridge in the Tsitsikamma National Park, BLACKWATER TUBING on the Stormsriver is the ultimate kloofing experience.

The trip is both scenic, exhilarating and always spectacular, with the cliffs almost meeting over your head to block out the indigenous forest. Frequent sightings of the Giant Kingfisher, Knysna Loerie and the Fish Eagle are made.

Depending on the level of the water, you can try your luck at riding a rapid or two, or jump into the "unknown" black water. (all under the supervision of your guide). Drifting along the calm pools gives one a chance to relax after clambering over rocky outcrops.

Our starting time at our offices is 08h30, and we return there at approximately 14h00. We spend about two and a half hours on the water, depending on the ability of the group.

Scuba Diving

Storms River mouths beauty goes much further than the magnificent scenery. The bay creates the perfect shore dive. Rock reefs form a bay providing opprotunities in the Tsitsikamma National Park. The area is protected from all forms of exploitation resulting in abundant fish and invirtebrate life.

A unique river dive in the Storms River Mouth provides for the ultimate shore dive experience with frequent shark sightings. Most of the fish species are endemic to the South Eastern Cape, that is they occure no where else in the world. Easy access to the sea, bright reefs and fishes provides the perfect opportunity for underwater photographers.

A naturalists dream where over 50 different fish species occur in this small bay alone. Raggertooth and smooth hound sharks are frenquently seen. Other residents of the bay include: red roman, musselcracker, blacktail, zebra, juvenile, poenskop, steepies, as well as sand sharks and eaglerays. In addition to this wide variety of colourful sponges, ascidians, sea urchins and anemones are found. For the more adventurous, dives with up to 30 smooth hound sharks can occur.
