KELSEA DEEP SEA CHARTERS

Sightseeing through the Knysna Heads
1,5 - 2 hour trip through the Heads to experience a different view of our coastline from the sea. Chance of seeing whales, the Great White Shark, dolphins, seals, penguins and sea birds.

BOAT-BASED WHALE WATCHING with ROMONZA
Experience the sight of a whale close up at sea. We depart twice daily and the trip will be one and a half to three hours, depending on the proximity of the whales. A special SITE qualified whale guide will be on board during every trip to provide you with all the information you need to know about our ocean animal life. We have organized shore- based whale-watchers around the Bay directing us straight to the whales when leaving the harbor. There is a 99% guarantee that we will see the Southern Right Whale, dolphins, seals, sharks and marine birds. The Romonza was awarded one of the twenty boat based whale watching licenses in South Africa and it is the only Registered Passenger Boat along the South African Coast to take up to 50 passengers to observe the largest mammals on earth close up.

Also possibilities for Seal Island trips to view 4000 cape fur seals, a sunset cruise with champagne and snacks or a braai (bbq) on board.

All trips depart from Mossel Bay Harbor (Vincent Quay).

All trips weather permitting.

Shark Africa

Come and join us on our fully equipped 12 meter yacht the INFANTE. We are the only shark cage operations out of Mosselbay, so we are not disturbed by other boats. We have an 84% annual average rate of successful cageing. We use a two man – semi circle steel cage which is permanently to the dive platform and is always under our direct management. Our hookah air supply system gives you total freedom in the cage, and 25cm semi circular view ports afford even the most ambitious photographer plenty of room to work as the sea's magnificent predators glide slowly by.

We have a proud record with the Great White Shark with some 95% of visitors seeing this apex predator of the sea and 84% in successful cageing. Topside viewing is exciting for the non-diver and as the shark works very close to the surface you will have plenty of opportunity to take some action shots.

Ocean Blue Adventures

Ocean Blue Adventures is the winner of the Green Trust Award. There is Whale and dolphin watching throughout the whole year. You will be transported from the shop to the beach, launched into the water and spot dolphins catching the waves. A large and very active colony of Cape Fur Seals lives permanently on the Robberg Peninsula and they can be seen all year around. A lot of seabirds can be seen along this coastline as well.

Ocean Safaris

The Centre for Dolphin Studies (CDS) and Ocean Safaris operate boat based whale watching permits for both Plettenberg Bay and Knysna respectively. So, whether you prefer the dramatic Knysna Heads or the diverse Plettenberg Bay, Ocean Safaris and the CDS offer you " The best Seafari by far. The permit allows you to come within touching distance of whales – the difference between watching whales from 300m (the legal limit for non-permitted operators) and hearing the whales breathe at 50 m. You also have the opportunity to see playful dolphins catching the waves or playing around the boat

Close encounter trips starting from the 1st of July:
