Highgate is only 10km from Oudtshoorn. Arrive between 7h30 and 17h00, including Sundays and public holidays and you will be met by a multi-lingual guide. Your tour starts almost immediately and takes approximately 1 and a half hours. You will learn everything about the ostriches - about the eggs in the nests and about how they grow to be the largest bird on earth. You have the opportunity to feed the ostriches and see how the jockeys ride them.

Cango Wildlife Ranch

Experience a fascinating tour of fact and fable as you venture into the crocodile enclosures, or visit the snake park which accommodates an interesting collection of reptiles such as the giant albino python and the prehensile tailed snake. Catch a bird’s eye view of the magnificent family of big cats. These include the endangered cheetah, rare white Bengal tigers, lions, jaguars and pumas. As an addition, visitors (16 year and older) for a nominal fee can experience the thrill of touching the hand raised cheetahs. You can also visit the wild dogs, pygmy hippos, suricates, emus, wallabies, raccoons, flamingos, peacocks, bat eared foxes, and the world largest rodent, the capybara. There is a children’s farmyard, a curio shop and the Turtle’s café, where the menu offers a ranging from traditional fare to croc bites and ostrich burgers.
