Explore South Africa's Culture & Wildlife

14 Days 

Highlights include: the Panoramic Route, Kruger National Park, Zululand, the Battlefields, the Wild Coast, Frontier Country, Addo National Park, the Garden Route, Oudtshoorn and Cape Winelands. This tour begins in Johannesburg and ends in Cape Town. Subject to a few minor changes it can begin in Cape Town and end in JHB.

DAY 1: Departure is from your flight arriving JHBI usually around 08h00. We head up to Dullstroom and take the Long Tom Pass down to Lydenberg. We then travel the Panaramic Route of the Blyde River Canyon. Here you will see the "Three Rondavels" & "Gods Window". We overnight in Hazyview. Our first choice accommodation is the Rissington Inn 4*www.rissington.co.za or Hotel Numbi 3* www.hotelnumbi.co.za

                                                                                                                      DAY 2: Enter the Kruger National Park for a full days game viewing. A night game viewing experience is an optional activity. Overnight at either one of the KNP restcamps or along the banks of the Crocodile River overlooking the park. Our accommodation options include: Lower Sabie rest camp, Buhala Guests House 4* www.buhala.co.za or Linos Lodge 3* www.linoslodge.co.za

                                                                                                                      DAY 3: After Breakfast you may spend a few hours game watching from the veranda or at the waterhole. The journey continues on to Swaziland. Passing Pigs Peak we stop for a visit at the Glass Factory. We arrive at the Milwane Game reserve in the mid afternoon. www.biggameparks.org There is time for a scenic hike before dinner served at the waterhole. Accommodation is in rustic en suite grass bee-hive Swazi huts. Enjoy dinner at the waterhole. Overnight at the rest camp.
                                                                                                                      DAY 4:  Drive to Zululand via the Kingdom of Swaziland. En route to St Lucia we stop to visit Dinizulu Zulu Tribal village. A great way to end the day is to take the ferry up the estuary to view Hippos and Crocodiles. Overnight on the banks of the St Lucia Estuary. Overnight stop is at the Seasands GH 4* www.seasands.co.za or the Elephant Lake Hotel 3* www.elephantlakehotel.co.za

DAY 5:  After breakfast we head south through the hills of Zululand and arrive at Islandwana one of the most famous battlefields in South Africa. Learn about this famous battle between the Zulu and British nations. In the afternoon guests may walk around the Islandwana Battlegrounds or take optional guided tours to Islandwana or Rorkes Drift battlefield. The overnight stop is at Islandwana Lodge 4*/ 3* www.islandwana.co.za

Day 6: Depart for Durban. There will be an opportunity to shop along the Golden Mile beachfront and watch the surfers while enjoying lunch. In the afternoon the route takes us to the South Coast for an overnight at either the Albatros G H 4*www.thealbatros.co.za or Pumala Beach Hotel 3* www.pumulabeachhotel.com  Enjoy a stroll along the beach before dinner.

DAY 7:  Follow the "Footsteps Of Nelson Mandela" as the tour takes you to Umtata. Visit the Mandela museum dedicated to this famous man. Continue on to the magical Wild Coast. After a week of driving we stop over at a beachfront hotel for two nights. There is plenty of time to  swim, sun tan, fish, horse-ride, hike along the coastline or simply relax. Take a walk along the beach before dinner which will offer the delights of fresh seafood which abounds along this pristine coastline. DAY 8:  The day is spent relaxing on the beach or exploring this beautiful coastline where sights such as "Hole in the Wall" may be seen. 

Day 9: After breakfast take a final beach stroll and then back on the road to Frontier Country. Our destination is Grahamstown a town steeped in history with numerous museums, monuments, churches and learning institutions. Accommodation will be in a historic cottages dating back to the 1820 era. DAY 10:   Drive to the Addo National Elephant Park for an overnight stop. View from close up Elephants, Rhino and numerous other species of wild game including the BIG 5. Enjoy an exciting optional night game drive. Accommodation will be in the Addo Rest Camp. Spend the evening sitting at the floodlit waterhole watching the wild game coming down for a drink.

DAY 11:  Today we head for the world renown Garden Route. Drive via the Tsitsikamma National Park, stop to view the Big Tree and enjoy lunch on Plettenberg Bay Beach. After all the driving we stop for a few days to relax while enjoying the ING things like: (optional) ocean whale watching; hiking; biking, relaxing; golfing......

A highlight of the tour will be the Knysna Cultural Township Trail (optional) whereby guests can gain an insight into the traditional way of life of the Xhosa and Rastafarian people.                                                                                                                       DAY 12:   Free Day for optional activities. Knysna has numerous arts and crafts shops to keep the shoppers happy. Take an optional guided tour into the dense indigenous forests, home to the last surviving free wild elephants. The day will end with a tranquil sunset cruise on the Knysna Lagoon.

DAY 13: Drive to Oudtshoorn where you will visit the Cango Caves, the Cango Wildlife and Cheetah Ranch and the Highgate Ostrich farm.  Overnight in Oudtshoorn. Accommodation will be at Adley House 4* www.adleyhouse.co.za  or  Oakdene Guest House 3* www.oakdene.co.za

 

 

 
                                                                                                

DAY 14:  The last day we head for the Winelands of the Cape. Enjoy wine tasting as we visit some of the local wine farms. Continue on to to Cape Town where we visit the top of Table Mountain by Cable Car. In the late afternoon you will be dropped off at your hotel or taken to CTI airport for your flight home.
